I was invited to Christ Embassy the first time in November 1991 for a program tagged more than Music. I remember coming early, I brought quite a number of cousins, and I found a seat and sat down.
when it did not seem like anything was happening, I drove to Victoria island to see a friend of mine and then returned after about an hour, when I came back Pastor was already on the pulpit, I went through an entrance to get to my seat but it passed right in front of the stage and the ushers did not stop me and I did not think It was wrong and so I walked right in front of the stage where Pastor war preaching and was literally just about a meter or two from where he was and then I began to walk up the ail which were steps looking for the seat I had sat down on when I came in the first time. I was wearing what was called then “Broke Shoes” and I had put the metal protectors on the heals so as I walked up it was making quite a bit of noise and quite a number of people were looking at me, I was also wearing a white T-shirt that on the front said something like “look at me I’m so cool”.
I found my seat and sat down and Pastor stopped preaching and began to rebuke the ushers for letting me walk passed the stage the way I did. He did not rebuke me but really told the ushers off.
I remember people turning to look at me as he spoke and I remember telling myself that I will never come here again. My sister told me after I was born again that she started praying in the Spirit at the time, she said she had worked hard to get all of us to the programme.
After rebuking the ushers he continued with the message. Two things struck me, first of all his dressing was Immaculate, he was wearing a well tailored blue suit, he looked like someone out of a fashion magazine and the second was his accent which at the time to me sounded some what American.
I soon forgot about the incident earlier and was engrossed in the message. What had the greatest impact on that day was when pastor took the offering, before he prayed over the offering he said there is someone here, a young man and the last money you have is in your pocket and if you give that you will not even have money to go home, come out and give the offering, and as he said that, the choir began to minister again and after a while pastor said the same thing again, and the third time he said it, a young man infront of me wearing some haggard looking jeans got off his seat and went down the ail and Pastor was holding the offering back himself and the young man put the offering in the bag and went back to his seat.
The whole congregation started clapping and I knew that it was real. For me that was a great miracle and I forgot about the incident that happened earlier at that point as I knew that God was in the place.
I did not get born again at that time but began to go to Christ embassy once in a while. I travelled out of Nigeria to go and further my education and the night before I left my sister began to prophecy about how that I will not have to pay for my education and that I will have a miracle.
When it was time to enrol for my Master degree, the government starting a scheme called training for work. I went to see them to find out whether they would pay for my masters degree course.
After much deliberation they agreed to pay for everything including housing and transportation and subsistence. When I finished the course, my sister wrote a letter saying she had been praying for my job and that God told her that I would get to choose and that I should chose the one that would give me the two “Es” (Experience and Exposure).
That was exactly what happened, after the interviews I had with two different companies, they both sent me offer letters which came in on the same morning and I did chose the one that would give me the two E’s. My sister also wrote another letter and said she was praying and that God said he wants to use me but can’t because I am not born again.
I then decided to receive Christ into my life and also decided that I would get born again on the 31st Night and that was what I did. I remember Pastor Femi Adenuga was part of the follow-up team and he was the one who spoke to me and took my details and said they would write to me In England, I travelled to Nigeria for my cousins wedding in December, before I went, I had decided that it was time to get born again and that I would do it on the 31st Night 1995.
I remember that when the altar call was made, and I got born again, I did not feel any change and wondered whether I was really born again but the next morning when I woke up, I knew something big had happened to me the night before, I felt like a new born baby and this sense of freedom. .
