My experience before I gave my life to Christ is what I’d like to qualify with one word: “dry. ” I literally existed without direction.
I am boldly saying this today without mincing words because I am born again and can identify the contrast with my life then and my life now.
One faithful Sunday morning in the year 1997, my elder sister who worships with ‘Four Square Church’ finally convinces me to follow her to church after series of invitations.
The Pastor made an altar call and I came out standing in front of the congregation with swarm of eyes on me; in a split second I thought it was judgment day for me. I repeated the salvation prayer and gave my life to Christ.
As I journeyed through the isle back to my sit, I noticed my elder sister was submerged in tears. I asked her why cried in church and she said it’s been her prayer and wish that I get saved considering the weird philosophy my father has raised us with.
My father will always say to us: don’t distract yourselves with getting born again just yet; “what you guys need is to study your books, get a good degree, work in a blue chip company with a good take home and the church will come running after you. Yeah, it’s pretty funny philosophy and this why my elder sister cried that day because it was like hypnosis to my siblings which can only take God’s intervention to think contrary.
I had lots of challenges as a born again Christian but most of the challenges actually came from my father who is not born again and also coupled with his philosophy towards Christianity made it pretty difficult for me to attend mid-week services. This was a very big challenge for me up until I secured admission into the university.
I joined Christ Embassy in through Brother Michael Adedero. He worships with Christ Embassy Model Church, Elelewon Street, G.
R. A.
We both belonged to choir back then in Four Square Church but he left a long time. He came and said to me, “the word of God has taken a centre stage in my life since I joined Christ Embassy.
” I did not hesitate to follow him because there’s been a phenomenal change in the way he talks.
One distinctive change I observed in my life since I joined Christ Embassy is that I’m now “Faith Driven” this is a result of the teachings emphasis Pastor Chris on the “WORD.
” In Christ Embassy, “the word of God is not a factor, it is the factor. ” Oh, I feel like crying right because I have so enjoyed the word of God in this ministry.
Presently, I play keyboard for my church and my Pastor has been awesome.
